Memorial Ceremony & Reception

Presented by the Veterans Caucus of AAPA

Reception: 5:30 – 7 p.m.



All conference attendees are encouraged to participate in this annual event which honors fallen PAs and the profession’s military roots with music and military symbolism. The theme of the 2017 ceremony is “Deployments: Effects on Military Families.”

Maj. Christopher B. Cordova, U.S. Army, PA-C, and his wife Maria will speak about the effects of deployment on families as well as on individuals. Maj. Cordova, a recipient of the Silver Star, was a squadron PA at Combat Outpost Keating, the location of one of America’s deadliest battles during the war in Afghanistan. Maj. Cordova and the battle are subjects of a book by CNN anchor Jake Tapper, titled “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor.”

Maria Cordova has also written a children’s book, “The ABCs of the Army.”

Veterans Caucus scholarship recipients will also be recognized during this event.
